The former commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Yuri Sodol, has been dismissed from military service based on the conclusion of a military medical commission. This was reported by a source to "Ukrainska Pravda."
According to the informant of "UP," Sodol was discharged from the Armed Forces of Ukraine on October 14. The reason for this was the decision of the military medical commission.
At the same time, member of parliament Maryana Bezuhla also stated on her social media that Sodol resigned due to the military medical commission.
Meanwhile, journalists from the publication "Slidstvo.Info" reached out to the head of the public relations department of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Bohdan Senyk, who responded that there is currently no official information regarding Yuri Sodol's dismissal.
"We do not have official information about Yuri Sodol's dismissal from the Armed Forces of Ukraine. We also learned this from the media," he noted.
Additionally, a journalist from "Slidstvo.Info" called Yuri Sodol himself, who answered the phone and said, "Goodbye!" before ending the call.
"The lieutenant general did not respond to a text message requesting confirmation or denial of the dismissal from the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the publication added.
Yuri Sodol's Dismissal - What We Know
Yuri Sodol was appointed Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on February 11, 2024, during a reshuffle in military command following the dismissal of the former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeriy Zaluzhny.
However, in June, the chief of staff of the National Guard Brigade "Azov," Bohdan Krotevych, filed a complaint against Sodol with the State Bureau of Investigations. In particular, he accused him of numerous mistakes dating back to the defense of Mariupol in 2022.
"General Sodol inadequately commands the troops, and his decisions have led to the deaths of thousands of servicemen from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard, and other defense units, resulting in weakened positions at the front and the loss of a significant amount of territory," Krotevych emphasized.
On June 24, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed Sodol from the position of commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and appointed Brigadier General Andriy Hnatov.
At the same time, at the end of September, it became known that The Appellate Court in Kyiv ordered the opening of a criminal case against Yuri Sodol. According to the chief of staff of the NGU "Azov" brigade, Krotevych, investigations are currently being conducted against almost all brigade commanders, but some military leadership "feels impunity for their actions."
