Ukraine seeks an end to the full-scale war, but will not agree to a "peace at any cost," stated Ukraine's Permanent Representative to the UN, Serhiy Kyslytsya.
The diplomat noted that the concept of "peace at any cost" will not bring lasting peace, but will instead encourage the aggressor to continue violating international law—not just in Ukraine. Kyslytsya remarked:
"The implementation of the concept of 'peace through strength' is the only effective tool to stop the aggressor and ensure a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace in accordance with the principles of the UN Charter."
Kyslytsya also pointed out that the diplomatic path to peace lies through the realization of the "Peace Formula." Additionally, Ukraine is open to considering peace initiatives from other countries, provided they take into account the restoration of territorial integrity, are based on the principle of "nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine," and do not equate the victim with the aggressor.
The diplomat is convinced that Russia's geopolitical ambitions extend beyond just Ukraine. This is particularly evidenced by the Kremlin's ultimatum that NATO must return to its 1997 borders. Kyslytsya added that countries that joined the Alliance later need to keep this in mind.
