Премьер-министр Венгрии Виктор Орбан хочет новую стратегию в отношении Украины / фото European Union

In light of Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential elections, the European Union must develop a new strategy regarding Ukraine. This was stated by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán at the summit of Turkic-speaking countries in Kyrgyzstan, as reported by Magyar Nemzet.

According to Orbán, the success of the Republicans in America "raises the question for us, European leaders," about Europe's ability to independently continue military and financial support for Ukraine.

"There are serious doubts about this, which is why a new European strategy will be needed," he said.

In particular, Orbán is concerned about the fate of the $50 billion loan for Ukraine, which was previously agreed upon by the G7 countries and will primarily be financed jointly by the European Union and the United States.

The Hungarian Prime Minister noted that the first steps in developing a new strategy could take place this Thursday at an informal EU summit in Budapest.

US Elections: What to Expect from Trump's Victory

As reported by UNIAN, the European Union fears the onset of a trade war with the US due to Trump's repeated promises during the election campaign to impose tariffs on European imports. He had already attempted such measures during his first presidency.

Meanwhile, former Finnish President Sauli Niinistö believes that Donald Trump's rise to power in the US will not have an immediate impact on the war in Ukraine. However, in his opinion, the newly elected American president will expect a certain level of flexibility from Kyiv regarding peace negotiations.
