On the morning of December 25, Christmas Day, Russian occupation forces launched a massive assault on Ukrainian cities. U.S. President Joe Biden commented on Moscow's terrorist attack, calling it "outrageous."
"In the early hours of Christmas, Russia unleashed waves of missiles and drones against Ukrainian cities and critical energy infrastructure. The goal of this outrageous attack was to cut off the Ukrainian people’s access to heat and electricity during winter and jeopardize the security of the energy system. Let me be clear: the Ukrainian people deserve to live in peace and security, and the United States and the international community must continue to support Ukraine until it triumphs over Russian aggression," the statement from the president, published on the White House website, reads.
Biden noted that in recent months, Washington has provided Ukraine with hundreds of air defense missiles. Even more are on the way.
"I have directed the Department of Defense to continue the sharp increase in arms supplies to Ukraine, and the United States will continue to work tirelessly to strengthen Ukraine's position in defending itself against Russian forces," emphasized the current U.S. president.
Ukraine's Shelling on Christmas: Other Statements
The Dutch Foreign Minister Kaspar Veldkamp stated that the morning attack on Ukraine on Christmas demonstrated that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is not interested in peace—only in the destruction of Ukraine.
At the same time, the Latvian Foreign Minister emphasized that "the butcher in the Kremlin is not interested in peace; Russia's policy is war."
The attack was also commented on by Donald Trump's future special envoy for Ukraine, General Keith Kellogg. He noted that Christmas should have been a time of peace, yet Ukraine was attacked once again.
