Educational Ombudsman - What You Should Know
According to UNIAN, the educational ombudsman is an official responsible for protecting rights in the field of education, promoting the implementation of state policies aimed at ensuring the human right to quality and accessible education, and conducting activities to enforce legislation on education and equal access to education.
The position of educational ombudsman was introduced in Ukraine for the first time in 2019. The first appointee was the director of specialized school No. 148 in Kyiv, Sergiy Horbachev. He was dismissed from his position as educational ombudsman on August 16, 2024, after his term ended.
Recently, Horbachev stated that the administrations of Ukrainian schools should not force children to wear "school uniforms," as this is an unnecessary and illegal requirement.
