On the morning of Wednesday, January 29, Russia launched an attack on Ukraine using Shahed strike drones. In particular, the air defense system was activated in Kyiv.
According to reports from the Air Forces, at 5:30 AM, drone activity was detected heading towards Kyiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, and Poltava regions. Prior to this, the "Shaheds" were maneuvering in Ukrainian airspace, changing course.
Around 6 AM, explosions were heard in Kyiv. Local social media reported the activation of air defense against enemy drones.
As stated by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, debris from an enemy drone fell near a metro station in the Darnytsia district of the capital. He later clarified the details of the incident.
"The debris from the drone that fell in the Darnytsia district damaged a fence and a standalone building at the Darnytsia depot entrance. All services are on site. There is currently no fire, and no injuries have been reported," he noted.
Currently, the air raid alert has been lifted in Kyiv, but the threat remains for the surrounding areas. Additionally, drones are still being detected in Dnipropetrovsk, Chernihiv, and Poltava regions.
