This year, the Defense Forces may acquire a new technology - drones combined into a single swarm. This was announced by the Vice Prime Minister for Innovation, Education, Science, and Technology, Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov, in an interview with journalists at the BRAVE1 forum.
"There are already a dozen companies working on this. We are constantly testing it at training grounds. I believe this is a prospect for the near future. So, this year we will see how swarms of drones operate," Fedorov stated.
The system operates on the principle of a swarm, meaning a group of drones is combined into a single mechanism controlled by one operator.
Technology of the "Drone Swarm": What is Already Known
In October 2024, the Minister of Strategic Industries Herman Smetanin reported that the "drone swarm" technology developed by Ukrainian defense companies was showcased during demonstration trials organized by the Brave1 cluster in collaboration with the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Digital Transformation, the General Staff, and the National Guard. Seven teams of manufacturers participated in the testing.
This year, the American defense contractor L3Harris Technologies introduced a software solution called AMORPHOUS, designed to manage thousands of drones through a single user interface.
