1On the night of November 8, Russian invaders launched a massive drone strike on Odesa and the Odesa region. According to preliminary reports, one person was killed, and another 9 were injured.
As reported by the Southern Defense Forces of Ukraine, the enemy conducted a large-scale drone attack using "Shahed-136" drones on the Odesa region last night. There are damages to civilian infrastructure, as well as casualties and injuries among the civilian population.
The press service of the regional branch of the State Emergency Service reported that, according to preliminary information, one person died as a result of the attack, and another 9 were injured.
"In the private sector, residential houses were damaged. Fires broke out in two residential buildings. Psychologists from the State Emergency Service provided aid to 15 individuals, including a child and a pregnant woman. Additionally, rescuers extinguished fires in warehouse premises and put out burning vehicles at one of the enterprises. A school building was also damaged," the press service stated.
It was noted that the pyrotechnic unit of the State Emergency Service conducted surveys of the areas for explosive devices. Alongside the rescuers, volunteers from the Ukrainian Volunteer Firefighters Association and the National Guard's fire department helped extinguish the fires.
As clarified by the head of the Odesa Regional State Administration, Oleg Kiper, a 46-year-old man died from shrapnel wounds while he was driving during the attack. Among the injured is a 91-year-old woman who has an acute stress reaction.
Six of the injured have been hospitalized. The rest received assistance on-site. People on social media report that the deceased man leaves behind a wife and three children.
The city hall's press service released a video showing the aftermath of the Russian attack. It depicts destroyed residential houses, a wrecked school, and more. In the homes hit by the occupiers' drones, almost no belongings survived; roofs have holes, and walls have collapsed. The school is unsuitable for education, and property has been destroyed.
The Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office specified that the Russian armed forces carried out a massive attack using UAVs on Odesa and its suburbs.
"More than 20 private houses, an educational institution, a gas pipeline, warehouse premises of a private enterprise, and vehicles were damaged. Inspections are ongoing, and a complete list of destruction and damages is being established. Prosecutors at the scene are documenting the consequences of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies," the statement reads.
