U.S. President Donald Trump is eager to end the war in Ukraine as soon as possible, showing little concern for the conditions under which it may happen. This was stated by former advisor to elected President Donald Trump, John Bolton, in an interview with Japanese television.
"Trump wants to end the war as quickly as possible after taking office, and he is not particularly worried about the conditions under which this will be achieved. He just wants to put an end to it," Bolton said.
He also believes that Russia may be interested in reaching an agreement for a ceasefire and establishing lines of demarcation based on the current situation at the front.
"And the longer this ceasefire lasts, the greater the likelihood that these lines will become the new border between Russia and Ukraine," Bolton noted.
Trump and the War in Ukraine
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken expressed concerns that Donald Trump's administration might abandon key aspects of Joe Biden's foreign policy, particularly regarding the Middle East and Ukraine.
Previously, elected President Donald Trump stated that he will not force Ukraine to initiate premature negotiations with Russia. However, there is currently no actionable plan for Ukraine that could be implemented after the inauguration on January 20.
