The Pentagon plans to utilize all available resources to support Ukraine until the end of Joe Biden's presidential term – up until Donald Trump's inauguration on January 20.
This was stated during a briefing by Sabrina Singh, the deputy spokesperson for the American Department of Defense, as reported by "Voice of America". Currently, the Department of Defense has $6 billion allocated for Ukraine. This includes approximately $4 billion for the Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA) program, which involves transferring weapons from U.S. military stockpiles, and about $2 billion for the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI), which involves ordering weapons directly from manufacturers.
Regarding supplies under the PDA program, Singh noted that some weaponry arrives in Ukraine within days and weeks. The delivery of others may take longer, depending on their availability in U.S. stockpiles.
"We always consider the needs of Ukraine on the battlefield, what Ukrainian forces can utilize, and what will be most impactful. Today, I do not have a set of new resources or items that we are evaluating, but each time we announce a package of assistance or a new commitment, it is an investment in the success of Ukrainians fighting on the battlefield," added the Pentagon's deputy spokesperson.
According to her, after the transition of power, the new administration (of President Trump, – UNIAN) will work with Congress to formulate future support policies for Ukraine. Singh emphasized that Ukraine enjoys bipartisan support in the U.S. Congress.
"Republicans and Democrats have committed to Ukraine in terms of votes and funding. The new team will work with Congress, and there is support in Congress to continue assisting Ukraine," she said.
Additionally, Singh reminded that Ukraine is supported not only by the U.S. but also by other countries.
