In the United States, there are no indications that the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is willing to engage in negotiations to end the war he initiated against Ukraine on terms other than his own.
This statement was made at a briefing by U.S. State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller. According to him, the Kremlin leader is not prepared to abandon his ambitions to absorb Ukraine.
"We do not see any evidence that Putin is ready to give up his demand to continue seizing Ukrainian territory," the spokesperson stated.
Miller expressed confidence that there are negotiations to which Putin would agree, where he would receive "everything he wants, while Ukraine would not obtain anything it is entitled to under the UN Charter."
And these are not the negotiations that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is interested in, "nor should he be," the State Department spokesperson emphasized.
