The meeting of high-ranking officials from the USA and Russia to discuss the agreement on ending the war in Ukraine will take place this Tuesday in Saudi Arabia.
This information was reported by Axios citing sources familiar with the situation. The publication noted that the agenda for this meeting will also include preparations for a summit between US President Donald Trump and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
The report highlighted that this meeting will represent another significant step towards improving US-Russia relations.
Journalists reminded that this meeting has caused disappointment among Ukrainian authorities, who are concerned about the possibility of an American-Russian agreement that bypasses Ukraine.
According to Axios, the US delegation will include Secretary of State Marco Rubio, White House National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, and Special Representative for the Middle East Steve Vitkoff. However, it remains unclear who will represent Russia, with only unconfirmed reports regarding the participation of Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
The publication pointed out that in Munich, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine did not receive an invitation to the meeting.
A senior Ukrainian official told the publication that the only invitation Ukraine received was "through media reports."
Meanwhile, Trump stated just yesterday to reporters that Zelensky "will participate" in the negotiations. Additionally, Vitkoff mentioned yesterday that "Ukraine is part of the negotiations," adding: "I don't think this is about excluding anyone. It's about including everyone."
