The newly elected President of the United States Donald Trump stated that he has not yet spoken with Russian leader Vladimir Putin but considers the possibility. He mentioned this in an interview with NBC News.
"I think we will talk," he said regarding communication with Putin.
Trump also shared details about his phone conversations with Harris and President Joe Biden following the elections.
"Very pleasant calls, very respectful in both directions," Trump described the discussions, adding that Harris "talked about the transition and said she would like it to go as smoothly as possible, which I certainly agree with."
Trump mentioned that he and Biden agreed to have lunch together "very soon" over the phone.
He revealed that after winning the election, he already spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky but did not disclose further details about that conversation.
Vladimir Putin may communicate with Donald Trump, who won the U.S. elections, even before his inauguration in January, said the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov.
At the same time, Peskov emphasized that Russia will not take the first step, as, according to him, "it is not Moscow, but Washington that is to blame for the breakdown of relations."
Putin's Statements on Trump's Victory
Russian President Vladimir Putin gave his first comment on Donald Trump's victory in the U.S. presidential elections and congratulated him.
According to the Russian president, he was greatly impressed by how Trump behaved during the assassination attempt during the election campaign: "He turned out to be a courageous man."
In Putin's view, during Trump's first presidential term, he was "completely bullied."
"I do not know what will happen now," he continued, reminding of Trump's statements about his readiness to "help resolve the Ukrainian crisis."
He does not plan to call Trump, although he does not consider it "shameful."
