The legalization of the spirits market from January to October 2024 contributed 43.5% more in taxes to the state budget compared to the same period in pre-war 2021, amounting to an additional 3.3 billion UAH, reported Daniil Getmantsev, head of the parliamentary committee on finance, tax, and customs policy, on Telegram.
According to the report, over the first ten months of this year, the payment of excise tax on alcoholic beverages produced in Ukraine increased by 1.5 billion UAH, which is 26.7% higher than the same period in 2021.
Furthermore, there is a positive trend in the growth of VAT efficiency, which stands at 6.74%, up 30.7% compared to the same period in 2021, when it was recorded at 5.16%.
Getmantsev noted that in the first ten months of 2024, revenue from the sale of this product rose by 23.5 billion UAH, or 24.5%, reaching 119.4 billion UAH, which is nearly equivalent to the total for 2023.
According to him, legal alcohol production has also increased, from 7.4 million dal in 2021 to a projected 12 million dal in 2024.
"The final nail in the coffin for the shadow market of alcohol will be driven with the signing of bill No. 12038, which imposes the excise tax on distilleries based on the maximum productivity of their equipment," the head of the parliamentary committee on finance, tax, and customs policy summarized.
