The export of goods from Ukraine in 2024 increased by 18.5% compared to 2023 – from $36 billion to $41.6 billion, while imports rose by 11.3% – from $63.5 billion to $70.7 billion, reported the State Customs Service on Tuesday.
As a result, according to their data, Ukraine's external trade turnover last year grew by 13% compared to 2023 – reaching $112.3 billion.
At the same time, taxable imports amounted to $57.4 billion, or 81% of the total volume of imported goods. The tax burden per kilogram of taxable imports for the year increased by 5% – to $0.51/kg.
According to the published data, Ukraine imported the most goods from China - $14.4 billion (up from $10.4 billion in 2023), Poland – $7 billion ($6.6 billion), and Germany - $5.4 billion ($4.9 billion), while exporting the most to Poland - $4.7 billion, Spain – $2.9 billion, and Germany – $2.8 billion.
As reported, in 2023, the top three countries importing products from Ukraine were Poland, Romania, and China.
In the total volume of goods imported in 2024, 65% (as in 2023) consisted of vehicles, chemical products, and fuel-energy goods. Specifically, machinery, equipment, and transportation worth $25 billion were imported, compared to $19.8 billion the previous year. When customs clearance was conducted, 172.3 billion UAH was paid into the budget, accounting for 29% of customs revenue.
Chemical products were imported for $11.7 billion compared to $11 billion in 2023 (with 87.7 billion UAH paid into the budget, or 15% of customs revenue), and fuel-energy goods – for $8.9 billion compared to $10.3 billion (with 157.6 billion UAH paid, or 27% of customs revenue).
The top three exported goods last year included food products - $24.6 billion (up from $21.8 billion in 2023), metals and products made from them - $4.4 billion ($3.9 billion), as well as machinery, equipment, and transportation - $3.5 billion ($2.9 billion).
The State Customs Service clarified that during customs clearance of exported goods subject to an export duty, 311.3 million UAH was paid into the budget in 2024.
