During the heating season of 2024/2025, the country will, as in the previous year, rely solely on Ukrainian gas, stated Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.
"In Ukraine, the heating season has commenced in all regions. The only exception is the Kherson region, where relatively warm weather persists. The readiness of communities and regions for winter is at a hundred percent. 83% of all boiler houses are operational, and heat is being supplied to 70% of residential buildings, as well as over 80% of schools, hospitals, and kindergartens," Shmyhal said at a government meeting on Tuesday.
The Prime Minister emphasized that Ukraine has sufficient domestic energy resources to endure the winter.
"The gas reserves in underground storage facilities are adequate for household consumers, heating and communal energy services, and budget institutions. While forming these reserves, we took into account the needs for the operation of gas installations for decentralized generation. This will mark the second consecutive heating season in which we will use only Ukrainian gas," he concluded.
