Ukrzaliznytsia JSC (UZ) plans to implement two pilot projects on the railways in 2025 - the routing of freight transport and the parking of cars at railway stations, reported Valeriy Tkachev, Deputy Director of the Commercial Operations Department.
"The primary goal is to increase the percentage of routed freight transport by rail. Within the framework of the project, UZ offers the opportunity for free accumulation of scheduled trains on public station tracks for up to 24 hours! There is also consideration to extend the technological time to 48 hours," he stated at the Export Office meeting at UZ on Thursday.
Additionally, UZ will offer freight carriers a service for parking empty owned wagons on the tracks of agreed stations. The objective of this initiative is to encourage the parking of excess wagon fleets and reduce the costs associated with the parking of private fleets, explained the company representative.
Tkachev also noted that the UZ branch "Center for Transport Logistics" has extended the campaign for signing long-term contracts for the use of the wagon fleet of Ukrzaliznytsia JSC in 2025. He urged shippers to take advantage of UZ's wagons and secure the cost of their use for the current year.
