Washington is shifting towards closer ties with Russia and China while distancing itself from partners in Europe, reports Politeka.net.

According to the Financial Times, this approach could have serious implications for the global order. Notably, one of the most significant signals of this change was Russia and China's support for a U.S. resolution in the UN Security Council calling for an immediate end to the war in Ukraine, but without placing blame on Moscow.

Experts note that American diplomacy increasingly resembles a transactional approach, where the U.S. may be willing to negotiate with China on trade restrictions, export controls, and even Taiwan policy, as reported by Politeka.

At the same time, there are concerns in China that this course could lead to a rupture of the strategic alliance with Moscow, which is seen as a kind of "Nixon reversal," recalling how the U.S. attempted to weaken the USSR by normalizing relations with China in the 1970s.

For Russia, this shift could mean a reduction in economic dependence on China. However, analysts emphasize that the Kremlin is unlikely to abandon its strategic partnership with the PRC in favor of the U.S., as Putin and Xi Jinping actively support each other.

Changes in American foreign policy also have repercussions for Europe. China may take advantage of the rifts between the U.S. and Europe to enhance its influence on the continent, seeking new opportunities for cooperation with European states.

At the same time, the weakening of U.S. support for Ukraine and Europe could signal to China to act more aggressively regarding Taiwan. Some experts suggest that China may offer the U.S. a deal on Taiwan, using the situation in Ukraine as a precedent for negotiations.
